Humility captivates the heart! At times, St. George Preca, with his humility, managed to transform the most hostile hearts.
Once, in 1931, Father George was sitting on a bench and waiting at the bus stop to go from Valletta to Sliema. On another bench in front of him, a man got up suddenly and approached Father George and began to insult him.
Father George remained silent until the bus arrived and the man boarded it. As the man left, he fell and scraped his knee on the curb. Father George was taken aback and approached him, saying, “You are George Preca,” in astonishment, “I will come with you to get you treated!” They entered the nearby church, and he took care of the man.
This episode is a beautiful example of how St. George Preca’s humility had the power to transform a moment of insult into an act of kindness and service. His humility truly captivates the heart!
