In September, the SDC General House hosted two Bishops who paid a courtesy visit to the Superior General.
On 11 September, H.G. Bishop Thomas Padiyath of the Syro-Malabar rite, accompanied by Fr Matthew Varuvelil, chaplain of the local Syro-Malabar community visited the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Afterwards an informal meeting was held with the Assistant Superior General, the Secretary General and the Delegate of the Superior General for Malta.
This was followed by the visit of H.G. Mgr George Muthaka O.F.M. Cap., Bishop of Garissa Kenya. Mgr Muthaka was a former candidate at the Ruiru SDC Centre. During the visit, which took place on 19 September, Bishop Muthaka was accompanied by Bishop Emeritus Joseph Alessandro O.F.M. Cap., and Rev. Provincial of the Capuchin Order, Fr Ivan Scicluna. After praying in front of the remains of the Founder in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, an informal meeting was held with the Superior General and the private council. Members Gaetano Decelis and Raymond Tabone were also present. It was during the time that these members were doing apostolate in Kenya, that Bishop George attended the Ruiru Centre. As expected, they shared a lot of memories of the time when His Excellency was an Elect and a Candidate.
The Superior General also had the opportunity to meet Fr Míċéal O’Neill, the Prior General of the Carmelite Order, who was visiting Malta together with the Fr Michael Farrugia the Procurator General of the Order.
