Superior Tonio Callus, the members Mario Bezzina and Mario Borg together with candidates Michael Ndichu, Michael Baabu and Peter Kairu visited Holy Trinity Parish in Rang’ala. Over the past years, this was the fourth visit of the Society to Rang’ala Parish in Siaya county. The parish is part of the Diocese of Kisumu and is several miles away from Ruiru.
The members were hosted by Fr Matthews Omogo, the parish priest. On 26 September, the group travalled to Magadi Parish where they met Fr Vincent Ouma Odundo, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Kisumu. During the meeting the members introduced the SDC and its charism to Fr Vincent, who reflected on the role of the SDC to safeguard both children and the catholic faith.
The members visited both St Claire Rang’ala Primary Girls School and Rang’ala Primary Boys School several times. Through the established contacts, members held meetings with some girls and boys who are currently preparing to be baptised. They also visited the hospital run by the Franciscan Sisters of St Joseph also known as the Asumbi Sisters. On Tuesday 25 September, the members also organised a seminar for the parish catechists.
Besides continuing to strengthen contacts with Holy Trinity Parish in Rang’ala, the SDC continues to discern whether it will eventually set up a new Centre in this parish.
