In the days leading up to Christmas, a Novena was held with the groups that usually meet. Members and Candidates presented the theme of the School of Betlehem inspired by the writings of Our Founder.
Then, on Saturday, December 23rd, the Wigilia was organized for the entire group. This is a traditional meal held in families and various groups usually on Christmas Eve, during which prayers and readings from the Gospel according to Saint Luke are recited, while no alcohol or meat are consumed. The meal consists of fish, salad, and food according to tradition. Handmade wafers (opłatka) are shared amongst each other while expressing best wishes. About 15 young people, candidates, elects, and preps were present. Some of them heartily prepared the food from days before the event. Each individual was invited to share a spontaneous intercessory prayer. It was another beautiful occasion that helped to strengthen the SDC group.
On Christmas Eve was marked by the Midnight Mass and some hot chocolate and cakes for the occasion afterwards.
The demonstration of Baby Jesus took place on the 28th December in a central area of Poznan. We were around 30 people, a few adults, and our youth complement. Carol singing, guitar playing and Scripture readings at various intervals animated the event. At 7:00 pm, we entered the Collegiate Church of Saint Stanislaus, known as Fara, where in front of the Blessed Sacrament, we concluded with the Novena Prayer.
On the Feast of the Epiphany, the Centre organized a New Year gathering for young people attending together with their parents and families. The candidates led the occasion which consisted of carol singing, a reflection by Member Rainer Bezzina and a power point presentation about the recent activities at the SDC Centre. Towards the end, the young people who attend regularly at SDC, were given a book as a gift covering various themes from the Holy Bible, faith, media, psychology, and biography. Afterwards we all met informally for a cup of tea, cakes, and other eats, as we exchanged our best wishes for the coming year.
