Magister Utinam Sequatur Evangelium Universus Mundus (M.U.S.E.U.M.)
Divine Teacher may the whole world follow the Gospel
The centres of the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC) have these main four dimensions: communitarian, contemplative, formative and apostolic. These four dimensions should also be the guidelines to help the centres to live and work in the ever-changing circumstances of today’s world and to help those who thirst for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The
Communitarian
Dimension
The Centre is a local community emphasizing unity and brotherhood among its members who support each other in living the SDC vocation. Inspired by Trinitarian life, the community values love and sincere unity as visible signs of Christian discipleship, contributing to the holiness of its members. The Centre attracts individuals seeking a life of virtue, particularly humility and meekness, as an alternative to the prevailing individualistic and narcissistic culture. Diversity in age, education, and qualities enriches the community, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone contributes according to their abilities. As part of the larger SDC community, the Centre remains submissive, open-minded, and willing to discern how to preserve the SDC spirit. This dimension contributes to the mission of welcoming new members and sustaining individuals on their spiritual journey.
The
Contemplative
Dimension
The Centre, inspired by the Founder’s belief that everything is from and by God, fosters a community dedicated to adoration and glorification of God. Grounded in personal experiences with the divine, members support each other in wholeheartedly giving themselves to God. Emphasizing silence and recollection, the Centre becomes a sacred space, marked by joy and peace, where communal prayer deepens intimacy with God. Welcoming all with the greeting of Christ, it seeks to instill the spirit of Christ in every person. Through inherited practices, the Centre cultivates a contemplative life centered on prayer, symbolizing the tangible presence of the incarnate Son of God.
The
Formative
Dimension
The Founder envisioned forming a group of youth committed to seeking perfection in the Christian life in response to God’s call. The Centre prioritizes personal formation, considering it vital for the Society’s prosperity. Activities focus on strengthening the formation of members, candidates, and elects. The Assignment, a key component, fosters community spirit and commitment. Formation is crucial for Candidates to understand their suitability for the SDC vocation, with the Curator guiding their journey. Elects are considered a nursery for future SDC members, and the Centre provides necessary resources for permanent formation, encouraging participation in broader SDC formative activities.
The
Apostolic
Dimension
Inspired by Saint Paul, the Founder envisioned each centre as a community of members formed in the Christian faith who proclaim the Gospel through apostolate with various groups. The Centre, animated by a missionary spirit, works tirelessly to spread knowledge and love of Jesus. Emphasizing catechesis and faith-sharing, the apostolate aims for the sequela Christi and the living of the virtues. Conducted without ostentation and in a spirit of sacrifice, the centre’s apostolate touches the hearts and urge for regular and assiduous effort for true formation. The centre’s primary task involves inviting and welcoming people, utilizing resources and suitable spaces, while actively seeking new opportunities to make the SDC charism known.
