Easter Celebrations in Sagua la Grande, Cuba

The Easter celebrations were truly special for the SDC Centre of Sagua la Grande since we blessed with the presence of two SDC Members from Malta: Paul Deguara and Jonathan Scicluna. On Wednesday we celebrated Easter with children and youths who attend the SDC centre and at the end, each received the traditional Maltese figolla, prepared by the older children and adolescents themselves. Besides preparing the figolli, during Lent most of them participated in a fund-raising activity by offering sweets, and with the money collected, they were able to make “figolli” for a group of very poor people. On Friday 5 a special Easter Celebration was also organized for around 30 Grupo San Jorge Preca members, who also received their figolla. Finally, on Sunday 7, a special outing was organized for the children, adolescents and their parents to the historical city of Trinidad (3 hours away from Sagua) and to the beautiful Ancon beach.
