O God, my Father, divert your gaze from the malice of this world,
and direct it on the venerable face of Christ, the Redeemer, and rejoice in Him;
meanwhile take into consideration the fact that sin was the cause of the birth of that face.
Admire it for the infinite merits it won, and pour from your holy Sanctuary in heaven
the perfume of your grace which he earned for us through his ghastly death.
