WATCH, REFLECT, ACT

On Monday, 15 September 2025, the DĦS Conference Centre hosted the opening of the special week WATCH, REFLECT, ACT, dedicated to the theme of education. Following an introduction on the vision behind this event by the Superior General, Dr Maria Montebello presented the film The Teacher Who Promised the Sea (El maestro que prometió el mar), a 2023 Spanish production directed by Patricia Font. The film narrates the true story of Antoni Benaiges, set in the years leading up to the Spanish Revolution, and is inspired by Francesc Escribano’s book of the same title.
On this first day, the participants were invited to reflect on the values of justice and hope that we are called to recognise in children and young people today. Following the screening, the discussion on the theme continued during an informal gathering.
The event will proceed on Tuesday, 16 September, with a screening of The Teachers’ Lounge.
