Visit to the SDC Centre of Julio C. Tello (Peru)

On 21 August 2026, the Superior General and the Assistant Superior General concluded their visit to the SDC Centre of Julio C. Tello in Lurín, Peru. The visit began on 13 August, when they received a warm welcome from the children and adolescents who regularly attend the centre. A welcoming gathering was also organised by members of the St George Preca Group the following day.
On Saturday, 15 August, the Superior General and his Assistant joined the adolescents for an outing, during which they enjoyed flying kites, playing football and spending time together.
The following day, Sunday, 16 August, a half-day seminar was organised for SDC members and candidates, the female group and members of the St George Preca Group. The sessions focused on two important themes: The Right Intention, a virtue particularly dear to St George Preca, and The Universal Call to Holiness.
Throughout their stay, the Superior General and the Assistant Superior General participated in several meetings with children and adolescents, as well as with candidates and members, providing opportunities for formation, reflection and fraternal exchange.
Their programme also included a visit to the chapel dedicated to St Dominic of Manchay, which forms part of Santa Rosa of Manchay Parish. The SDC members assist with the catechetical formation of children at this chapel. They also visited the San José del Sur Educational Institute, where one of the SDC members serves as part of the school’s administration.
On Wednesday, 19 August, members of the St George Preca Group organised a joyful farewell gathering at the SDC centre. Alongside moments of prayer and reflection, those present shared messages of thanksgiving to God for the visit and enjoyed a time of fellowship together.
A final gathering was held on Thursday 20 August for the children and adolescents, during which they had the opportunity to ask questions about the SDC before enjoying some refreshments together.
During their visit, the SDC members Jeremy Zammit and Luke Mizzi, who were undertaking a missionary experience in Peru, were also present.
The visit provided many opportunities for prayer, formation, recreation and fraternity, while further strengthening the bonds between the General Administration of the SDC and the community of Lurín.
