Between 28 July and 3 August 2026, the Superior General, accompanied by the Assistant Superior General, visited Santo Hermano Pedro Parish in Puerto Barrios, where they were welcomed by the Parish Priest, Fr Anton Grech, a missionary priest from Gozo.
During the visit, the Superior General and the Assistant had the opportunity to visit a number of remote villages that form part of the parish.
One particularly encouraging aspect of the parish is the devotion to the Founder of the SDC. This is especially evident because of a group of women who established the Comunidad San Jorge Preca to promote devotion to Saint George Preca.
On Saturday, 1 August, the Superior General led a half-day seminar for the parish catechists, during which he shared a reflection on the spirituality of Saint George Preca and how it can inspire catechists in their ministry. The Assistant Superior General then spoke about what it means to be a member of the SDC and the apostolate carried out by its members so that Jesus may become better known and more deeply loved. At the end of the seminar, literature about the Founder, Eugene Borg and Gilbert Simiana was distributed to those present.
On Sunday afternoon, 2 August, during a festival with the parish youth, the Superior General gave a brief introduction to the SDC and shared a reflection on the identity and dignity of every person in the light of God’s plan, drawing on various insights from the Founder.
We thank the Lord for continuing to grant the SDC opportunities to proclaim the Gospel in different parts of the world.
