Thanksgiving (South Bend)

Preca Cottage in South Bend welcomed Preca friends, along with some family members of SDC Associate Ruth Lasseter, for American Thanksgiving on Thursday 27 November 2025. The traditional turkey was roasted and served with gratitude and good cheer. For the first time, everyone present prayed together the Praise to God written by St George Preca. The singing of the 100th Psalm brought the celebration to a close.
In preparation for Advent, several teaching pamphlets for faith formation were placed in the Preca Little Library, which is open to passing members of the public. This initiative began during the Covid lockdowns and continues today, with neighbours stopping by to borrow books on the spiritual life or to take some of the new teaching pamphlets.
A workshop was held over the Thanksgiving holiday and on the First Sunday of Advent to paint nativity figures for home crèches; the figures were crafted from wooden clothes pegs.
