From Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September 2026, ten candidates took part in a study weekend entitled An Open Book, held at Dar il-Ħanin Samaritan Conference Centre in Santa Venera. The weekend focused on the importance and value of reading, how to read effectively to an audience, and the ways in which reading can contribute to personal growth and formation.
Through a series of interactive sessions and activities, the candidates explored these different dimensions of reading and reflected on their own reading habits. They also had the opportunity to share with one another the books they are currently reading, as well as titles they hope to read in the future.
Alongside the study sessions, the programme included time for prayer and shared meals, providing opportunities for both personal reflection and community building. The candidates also shared some recreational moments, including a quiz night and swimming.
The weekend proved to be a valuable formative experience, bringing together learning, reflection, prayer and fellowship, while encouraging the candidates to appreciate more deeply the role that reading can play in their personal formation.
Let us continue to pray for these youth that they may discover the calling the Lord has for them.
