On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, a Solemn Mass presided over by Bishop Mons. George Frendo was celebrated at the Auditorium in Blata l-Bajda in honour of St George Preca, Founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC).
Male and female SDC members, together with associates and members of the public, attended this celebration in thanksgiving to Our Lord for all the blessings bestowed upon the world through the person of St George Preca.
In his homily, Bishop Frendo highlighted the virtues of humility and meekness that were so evident in Preca’s life and encouraged the congregation to imitate him. As St George Preca himself used to say, true devotion to the saints lies in imitating them in our daily lives. Bishop Frendo also emphasised the importance that St George Preca placed on carrying out every good deed with the right intention, namely, to please God.
The Eucharistic celebration was enriched by hymns and music.
At the conclusion of the Mass, the Superior General addressed the congregation, stressing that the Founder is not only pleased with their presence, but is also blessing them from heaven.
Similarly, at the Sanctuary of Ta’ Pinu in Gozo, another Solemn Feast Mass was celebrated, presided over by Bishop Mons. Anton Theuma.
Thanks be to God for all the graces silently bestowed upon so many through the intercession of St George Preca. Let us continue striving to grow in the virtues of humility, meekness, and purity of intention.
