Proclaim26 (St Albans)

On 27 June 2026, members of the SDC Centre of St Albans, together with several members of the parish liturgy team, were invited by the Holy Eucharist Parish to take part in Proclaim26, a two-day seminar organised by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
The seminar was led by Sherry Weddell, co-founder and Executive Director of the Catherine of Siena Institute. Weddell is the author of several books, including the bestselling Forming Intentional Disciples: The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus, which explores evangelisation and disciple-making in the twenty-first century. Together with her collaborators, she has worked with more than 225,000 Catholic clergy, religious leaders and parish groups across over 1,000 parishes in 230 dioceses worldwide.
A leading voice in Catholic discipleship, Weddell encouraged parishes to place evangelisation at the very heart of their mission. She stressed that the Church’s greatest treasure is not its buildings or institutions, but its people, each of whom is called to cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She reminded parish leaders that every baptised person has a unique God-given mission, shaped by their gifts, experiences and talents, and should be recognised not simply as a volunteer for parish activities, but as a disciple and apostle sent to share Christ’s love with the world. She urged Church communities to foster this vocation so that every person may discover their place in Christ’s mission and bear lasting fruit.
