The SDC members of the Brompton SDC Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, organised the annual Preca Family Weekend from Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July 2026 at the Dzintari Latvian Camp Site, Yankalilla. The chosen theme was Loving Our Neighbour with Great Charity.
The weekend began with dinner, followed by prayers, an introductory session and a movie night. Adults and children alike enjoyed watching The Sheep Detectives.
On Saturday morning, theme-based workshops were held separately for parents, young adults and children. On Sunday, separate reflection sessions were organised for parents and young adults, while the children participated in a second workshop. The Maltese SDC members who are currently visiting Australia led most of these sessions.
On Saturday afternoon, Delegate John Micallef facilitated a whole family session, where all family members were invited to take part in Conversations in the Spirit and reflect on the will of God for the family in this moment.
The programme also included time for prayer, silent adoration in a chapel specially set up for the occasion, games for young adults, and the celebration of the Eucharist. On Saturday afternoon, the Companions in Mission organised a treasure hunt for the teenagers, followed in the evening by a quiz night after dinner.
This year marked the tenth anniversary of the Preca Family Weekend.
