On the 26th of February, 2025, the Lipa SDC members joined the Archdiocese’s third annual Pastoral CAREavan initiative. This event involves the collaboration of many ministries and organisations, headed by the Archdiocese’s Social Action Commission (LASAC), presenting an outreach opportunity to secluded communities who would otherwise have no contact with the Church. This year’s edition is taking place in different barangays (zones) of the Parish of St Michael the Archangel in Lobo.
During the second day of the CAREavan, the SDC members attended a liturgical celebration led by Archbishop Gilbert Garcera in the Apar Elementary School. The mass included the conferring of baptism to 42 children and 71 adults, while 64 received their first Holy Communion and 214 received Holy Confirmation. There was also the celebration of three marriages. The programme also involves medical and dental check-ups which are offered to the locals for free.
Following the celebration of mass, some members accompanied in the house blessings of very rural dwellings in the mountainous region, while the others took part in a sharing exercise with the rest of the participants.
