Official Visit (Sagua La Grande)

The Superior General, accompanied by the Assistant Superior General, paid an official visit to the Sagua La Grande mission in Cuba from 16 to 27 July 2026. During the visit, the Superior General met with the members of the Sagua SDC centre, which has been carrying out its apostolate in the Diocese of Santa Clara since 2011.
On Friday 17 July, a meeting was held with the members of the St George Preca Group, during which the Superior General presented a new Directory for the group. The publication offers practical guidelines on how each member can live the spirituality of St George Preca within the circumstances of their own daily life.
Throughout the visit, the Superior General and the Assistant Superior General also had the opportunity to meet the children and adolescents who attend the SDC centre, sharing with them sessions of reflection and prayer.
A particularly joyful occasion for the SDC was the Ceremony of Incorporation, presided over by the Superior General on Friday 24 July, during which the Cuban candidate Yohansys Rojo Gonzalez became a full member of the Society.
On Monday 27 July, the SDC centre of Sagua organised a joyful farewell gathering for the Superior General and the Assistant Superior General before their departure from Cuba. During the event, the children presented a short drama illustrating why they attend the centre and how the formation and catechesis they receive are helping them grow in faith and in their Christian lives. Parents and members of the St George Preca Group were also present for the occasion.
