The 6:30 am Mass on Saturday, 10th May 2025, at the Parish of Santo Niño in Marawoy, Lipa, was celebrated in honour of St George Preca. This marked the first such celebration dedicated to the Founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC) in the Archdiocese of Lipa. The Mass was celebrated in Tagalog by the parish priest, Fr Jayson Siapco, and assisted by Deacon Rev Joshua Garcia.
In addition to the readings and liturgical prayers related to the Founder, Fr Jayson delivered a thoughtful homily in which he presented St George Preca as a priest who championed lay participation in the Church’s mission, particularly in catechesis and evangelisation. He echoed the Founder’s conviction that proclaiming the Good News is not the exclusive task of the clergy, but a mission entrusted to all the faithful, through both words and actions. Fr Jayson also highlighted St George Preca’s role in the development of the Mysteries of Light in the Rosary, encouraging the congregation to cultivate a personal devotion to this Maltese saint.
At the conclusion of the Mass, leaflets were distributed containing a brief biography of the Founder along with a prayer from Invocations to God, written by St George Preca and translated into Tagalog.
