On Wednesday 27 May 2026, the SDC members and candidates of the Delegation of Malta gathered at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Grace in Żabbar for a prayerful celebration. This year, the parish is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the crowning of the titular image of Our Lady of Grace.
At the beginning of the celebration, SDC member Ian Borg shared a reflection on the Christian devotion to Mary and on how Mary remains the patient mother who accompanies us at every stage of our journey in following her son, Jesus.
This was followed by the singing of Vestis Honoris, a hymn written by Saint George Preca in praise of Mary as the Lady of all creation.
The Holy Rosary, a prayer especially dear to the heart of Mary, was also recited, mindful that in her apparitions she has consistently urged the faithful to embrace this special devotion. The Rosary prayed on this occasion was missionary in nature and was offered for the missions of the SDC across the five continents.
The Superior General brought the celebration to a close by encouraging all present to always carry the Rosary with them, as a sign of Mary’s continual presence and guidance in their lives.
Archpriest Fr Roderick Camilleri thanked the Society for this beautiful celebration and recalled the cherished memories such an occasion awakens in him, memories closely linked to his own enriching experience when he used to attend the SDC.
Afterwards, those present gathered in the parish hall for refreshments.
