A Marian celebration was held at the Preca Cottage on 24 March 2025, the eve of the Solemnity of the Annunciation. About twenty women gathered to share a light supper, to learn about the charism of the SDC, and to hear a presentation on the connection between the Annunciation and the Crucifixion. The presenter was Sr Danielle M. Peters, S.T.D., a member of the Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary and friend of the SDC. Several years ago, she donated a lovely statue of Mary, the Seat of Wisdom, to the Preca Cottage. Sr Danielle serves as president of the Mariological Society of America, and she is the moderator of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement in several states of the USA. When asked once about her life in Schoenstatt, she answered: “Our charism is to be Mary for the world; therefore, we do not have a specific apostolate like nursing or teaching or social work or whatever. Our calling is to be Mary wherever we are called to serve.” The title of the presentation was Talitha Koum! Hope Arises: Anchored in Faith and Love. Connecting the Annunciation and the Crucifixion. It was based on Mark 5:41 when Jesus calls back to life a little girl from her deathbed with these words: “Talitha Koum – little girl, I say to you, arise”.
