Listen compassionately, encourage joyfully, act faithfully, discern wisely, empower selflessly and reflect Christ.
These inspiring words capture the spirit of the Leadership Development Seminar organised for the youths of the Parish of Santo Niño in Marawoy, Lipa City. The seminar, held in collaboration between members of the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC) and the Parish Youth Council, brought together 39 young people actively involved in parish ministry. It carried the theme “Called to be a Committed Leader.”
The day began with a brief introduction to the SDC and its mission, followed by reflections on the biblical call to leadership. Participants sought to explore the calling of key biblical figures by relating them to their own lives. In the following session, contemporary role models were presented to exemplify the virtues of a good leader.
After lunch, the seminar continued with sessions on the importance of prayer and discernment in leadership. The final part of the seminar focused on how today’s youths are called to be agents of transformation in society. These talks were complemented by a variety of activities, including an icebreaker, group sharing, creative presentations and case study tasks based on real-life situations.
The event concluded with a quiet moment of reflection, centred around the prayer “Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace.” This was followed by a few closing words from parish priest Rev Fr Jayson T. Siapco.
We give thanks to the young people and their leaders for their enthusiastic cooperation, and above all, we thank God for this meaningful encounter.
