Thanks be to God, the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC) celebrated the Ceremony of Incorporation in Sagua La Grande, Cuba, on Friday, 24 July 2026, during which the candidate Yohansys Rojo Gonzalez became a full member of the Society.
Over recent years, Yohansys has received his formation within the Sagua centre and has been actively responsible for the adolescents’ group at the same SDC centre, among other commitments.
The ceremony was presided over by the Superior General, while the address of the occasion was delivered by the member John Mifsud, who emphasised that every vocation is a gift given by God for the benefit of the community.
Those present included the Apostolic Nuncio to Cuba, Monsignor Antoine Camilleri; Monsignor Arturo Gonzalez Amador, Bishop of the Diocese of Santa Clara; the Parish Priest of Sagua La Grande, Fr Wilfredo Leiter Juvier; and Fr Stephen Magro, a missionary priest and parish priest of the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity in Santa Clara.
The children and adolescents of the centre, together with their parents, and the members of the St George Preca Group, attended this hope-filled celebration.
At the end of the celebration, the Superior General distributed copies of the book Tras Los Pasos de Jesús, written in Spanish by the Superior of the Sagua centre, Stephen Zammit, which reflects on the exemplary and inspiring life of Gilbert Simiana.
We give thanks to the Lord for blessing the Society of Christian Doctrine with a new vocation.
