In the footsteps of St Francis of Assisi

Between 19 and 26 August 2026, a group of 24 SDC members took part in a pilgrimage following in the footsteps of St Francis of Assisi, marking the 800th anniversary of his death.
During the pilgrimage, the participants visited Assisi, San Damiano, the Eremo delle Carceri, La Verna, Gubbio, Greccio and Fonte Colombo, together with other places of religious and cultural interest. At each place, they had the opportunity to discover more about the life of St Francis and gain a deeper appreciation of his spirituality.
The pilgrimage offered a rich combination of prayer, reflection, fraternity, culture and moments of relaxation. Throughout these days, the participants were invited to reflect more deeply on the Franciscan values of simplicity, peace, fraternity and love for God and his creation.
