On January 17, 2026, the Society of Christian Doctrine marked its first anniversary in Lipa, the Philippines. Over the course of the year, the four SDC members of this community strengthened fraternal bonds with the clergy and the religious and fostered close relationships with the local faithful, giving concrete witness to the SDC vocation through a steady presence and generous service.
Alongside their apostolic commitments, the members devoted themselves to the study of the Tagalog language, recognising it as an indispensable means for deeper communication, cultural understanding, and more effective catechesis.
A significant highlight of the year was the SDC’s growing involvement at FAITH Colleges, where the community took part in school life, campus liturgies, faculty collaboration, and key institutional moments, including celebrations marking FAITH’s 25th anniversary. Through this engagement, the members supported and strengthened the Catholic identity of the school by means of a consistent and visible pastoral presence.
Throughout the year, the community was actively involved in catechetical ministry at various levels: Sunday Liturgy-based catechesis for younger learners; sacramental preparation for children, together with their parents and sponsors; youth formation initiatives; adult catechesis; and participation in formation meetings at both parish and diocesan levels.
For the four members of the Society in the Philippines, 2025 proved to be a formative year of learning and discernment, deepening their understanding of the local culture and Church. This experience continues to guide their reflection on how the life and style of the Society may be lived and expressed within Filipino realities with prudence, respect, and fidelity.
Deo gratias!
