As a conclusion to the scholastic year for FAITH Catholic School within FAITH Colleges, Tanauan City, the members of the SDC centre of Lipa were asked to lead a recollection for the teaching staff. This took place on Thursday, 30th April and centred on the theme of Teachers as Witnesses.
The morning opened with the celebration of Holy Mass at the school’s Multi-Purpose Hall, led by Fr Lorenzo Zara and Fr Darwin de Leon. The congregation also included a group of catechists from the surrounding parishes whose formation week was also taking place at school.
The session itself involved moments of prayer and examen, as well as group sharing about being witnesses to Christ and about each participant’s journey in the teaching profession. The main talk was based on elements from Pope Leo XIV’s address to Teachers in the Jubilee of Hope.
A small token was given to all participants, consisting of a cross and a wing to remind us of the words from Psalm 91, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.” A card with several Scriptural references, serving as an “emergency card” for various situations, was also handed out.
The SDC is thankful to God and to FAITH Catholic School for this opportunity of formation.
