On the last day of the liturgical year, the Sacrament of Confirmation was conferred to 234 adolescents from the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, barangay Darasa, in Tanauan City. The sacrament was administered by Msgr Conrado ‘Dado’ Castillo and Fr Darwin de Leon, parish priest. In his message to the youth, Msgr Dado highlighted the ethical implications of this sacrament, which leads to lifelong commitment and ongoing personal conversion. All those present were encouraged to pray daily to the Holy Spirit and use its seven gifts in practice.
The SDC members of the SDC centre of Lipa in the Philippines had assisted in the formation of the confirmands by participating in two catechism seminars earlier in November 2025. Working together with the parish catechists and in close collaboration with Fr Darwin, the members shared teachings about prayer, sacraments and the commandments to those preparing for the sacrament on Saturday, 8 November. A week later, a formation session was organized for the parents of the confirmands, in which the members shared about the importance of Confirmation, as well as the role of the parents and the sponsors in the lives of their adolescents.
We are thankful for the trust shown towards the SDC and for these opportunities given by God through various collaborators. May these young confirmands allow the Holy Spirit to guide them, being witnesses of hope and peace.
