Ceremony of Candidates (Malta)

The Ceremony of Candidates was held at the SDC centre of Mosta on Monday, 2 March 2026. During the ceremony, Rhys John Vella declared before those gathered that he would keep his eyes fixed on Christ Crucified all the days of his life.
Teens and young people who attend the SDC centre, along with the candidate’s family members, were present for this meaningful occasion. The principal address was delivered by SDC member Emanuel Catania. Also in attendance were the Assistant Superior General and the Parish Priest, Fr Sebastian Caruana, both of whom offered a brief message at the conclusion of the celebration.
Let us keep Rhys in our prayers, that he may grow in a deeper understanding of the call the Lord Jesus has placed in his heart, and that he may always remain in faithful service to the Church and the SDC. Let us pray that many more young people may generously respond to the call that the Lord continues to extend to them.
