Ceremony of Candidates (Malta)

“I resolve to fix my gaze on Christ Crucified all the days of my life.” These words were uttered by Matthew Sciberras and Daniel Cardona, two young men who received the Ceremony of Candidates on Thursday, 22nd May 2025 at the SDC Centre of Lija-Balzan.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the teenagers and youth who attend the SDC centre, along with the Candidates’ parents and relatives. On this occasion, Superior General delivered an inspiring reflection about the calling to serve others, drawing on the image of a candle that melts in order to give light. He also stressed that, like Jesus, one must embrace humility in order to offer oneself fully in service.
The Delegate of the Superior General was also present for the ceremony.
We pray for Matthew and Daniel, that they may come to know more deeply what the Lord Jesus is asking of them, and that they may always remain at the service of the Church. We also pray that more young people may respond generously to the Lord God’s call.
