On Wednesday, 22 October 2025, the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC) held a Celebration of Charisms at its General House Auditorium in Blata l-Bajda, bringing together representatives from various lay Catholic communities and movements across the Archdiocese of Malta.
The event, organised in collaboration with the FORUM, the coordinating body for lay Catholic groups in Malta, aimed to highlight the diverse charisms at work within the Church. Through the apostolic efforts of these communities, the Holy Spirit continues to draw people closer to Jesus, helping them recognise Him as the true source of hope in their lives.
After a welcome from Superior General Roberto Zammit, FORUM President Ms Angèle Cassar addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of unity and mutual appreciation among the different communities. She encouraged everyone to value the distinct gifts each movement brings to the Church, describing them as a shared force for unity and love in action.
Rev. André Zaffarese, Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Coordination, spoke about his role in helping to implement the Church’s pastoral vision in Malta.
During the evening, Ms Sylana Pulè, Mr Noel Bugeja, and Mr Chris Micallef shared personal reflections on how their respective charisms shape their daily Christian lives and strengthen their commitment to service.
The celebration concluded with a message and blessing from Auxiliary Bishop Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi, who expressed gratitude for the witness and vitality of the lay movements in nurturing faith within the local Church.
