On the morning of Saturday, 9th May 2026, following Mass in commemoration of St George Preca celebrated by Fr Sammy OFM, members of the Friends of St George Preca Group attended a seminar at the SDC Centre of Ruiru centred on the life of the Founder.
The seminar was conducted by the SDC candidates, who also shared how the faith formation they are receiving within the SDC is assisting them in deepening their faith and discerning their vocation. The participants greatly appreciated the seminar, which concluded with lunch and a time of fellowship.
Later in the evening, the candidates offered brief reflections to the children and young people. Three groups were organised, with the children and youth rotating from one group to another. The session concluded with refreshments, after which each participant received either a colouring book or a relic of St George Preca.
The day concluded with a special programme related to the Founder for SDC members and candidates, followed by tea and snacks.
On Sunday morning, 10th May 2026, Superior Tonio Callus, accompanied by the candidates Joseph Kimotho, Alvin Oduori, and Kelvin Njui, travelled to the outstation of Gachoka, which forms part of Mutomo Parish, where the church is dedicated to St George Preca. The Parish Priest, Fr Frank Njoroge, had invited the SDC to participate in the Feast Day Mass of St George Preca.
It was a beautiful celebration during which the life and mission of St George Preca were shared with the congregation. An image of the Founder was presented to the church, and holy pictures were distributed among those present. This marked the first occasion on which the SDC addressed the Christian community in Gachoka.
Thanks be to God!
