At the Holy Eucharist Church in St Albans, Australia, ten catechumens were baptised during the Easter Vigil on Saturday, 4th April 2026. It was a truly faith-enriching moment. These ten individuals had been preparing to join the Catholic Church for a full year at the SDC centre of St Albans, attending weekly catechism sessions.
Among the catechumens were a mother with her daughter and son, as well as a father and his daughter all of whom were baptised on the same occasion.
In his homily, the priest emphasised that, as newly baptised Catholics, they are called to look at Christ as the light guiding their path. Christ enlightens our lives and encourages us to trust in his power to bring change, transforming every Christian into a better person in order to serve him.
Some SDC members generously accepted to act as sponsors for some of the catechumens, to accompany them on their journey of faith. Thanks be to God, that some of them already expressed their intention to continue with the faith formation programme at the SDC centre.
Following the Vigil Mass, the newly baptised Christians, together with their relatives and sponsors, were invited to the SDC Centre of St Albans for refreshments, celebrating this special occasion in a spirit of fraternity.
