From 4 to 6 September 2026, the SDC centre of Ruiru, Kenya, held its annual weekend retreat for members and candidates. The retreat was held at the Subiaco Retreat Centre in Nairobi, run by the Benedictine Sisters, and brought together eight candidates and five members.
The retreat was led by Lawrence Caruana, a member of the Delegation of Malta who is currently undertaking a missionary experience in Ruiru together with Eucharisticus Zammit.
Throughout the weekend, the participants reflected on the person and character of St Peter the Apostle. His journey of faith, with its moments of enthusiasm, weakness, trust and renewed commitment to Christ, provided the participants with an opportunity for personal reflection and spiritual growth.
The retreat also offered a valuable time away from the usual routine, allowing the members and candidates to dedicate themselves more fully to prayer, reflection and their relationship with God.
Let us pray that this experience may continue to bear spiritual fruit in the lives of all those who took part, strengthening them in their vocation and in their commitment to the SDC mission.
Deo gratias!
