The 69th Australian Annual General Meeting (AGM), held to commemorate 70 years of ministry in Australia, took place at the Mary MacKillop Spirituality Centre in Baulkham Hills (Sydney) from 7–11 January 2026.
The AGM was centred on the theme Journeying in Holiness, Teaching with Love, and Building Community. SDC members were joined by five companions in mission, several young adults, and one associate, reflecting the rich intergenerational spirit of the community.
Special guests included Bishop Charles Gauci of Darwin, GEC member Joseph Bonnici, and Alan Bonello, Council Member of the Delegation of Malta.
A significant highlight of the AGM was a pilgrimage to central Sydney, visiting the first sites where the SDC apostolate began in Australia in 1956. This pilgrimage provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the origins of the mission and to give thanks for the past 70 years. A Thanksgiving Mass, presided by Bishop Gauci, was also celebrated at St Francis of Assisi, Paddington.
The AGM was a memorable occasion, marked not only by gratitude for the past but also by a renewed sense of hope and confidence for the future. During the gathering, SDC members and associates also renewed their commitment to the SDC mission.
With grateful hearts, let us give thanks to the Lord God for this mission in Australia, the first official outreach of the SDC from Malta, personally supported and encouraged by the Founder, St George Preca.
