On Friday 24 July 2026, the SDC commemorated the 140th anniversary of the birth of the Servant of God Eugenio Borg, the Society’s first Superior General.
In the evening, an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament was held in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, where Eugenio Borg’s mortal remains repose. Before the adoration, SDC member Joseph Fenech presented a brief biography of the Servant of God. Following the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, he led those present in prayer using texts written by St George Preca, as well as the Holy Rosary inspired by the life of Eugenio Borg.
Afterwards, Fr Daniel Galea O. Carm. celebrated Mass. During the celebration, the Secretary General delivered a homily focusing on Eugenio Borg’s teaching on faith. At the end of Mass, the prayer seeking God’s favour through the intercession of Eugenio Borg was recited.
All are encouraged to pray through the intercession of the Servant of God Eugenio Borg, and anyone who receives a grace through his intercession is requested to inform the Society.
