Half-day lent retreats in four different parishes (Cuba)

During lent, members of the Society and two Franciscan nuns present in Sagua la Grande, Cuba, organized half-day retreats in the parishes of Sagua la Grande, Quemado, Corralillo and Cifuentes on four consecutive Saturdays. The subject was: Lent, a call to sainthood. Those who attended appreciated the availability of books of our Founder translated in Spanish, especially El Año del Señor, El Hospital de Cristo and Las Reglas de los Santos.

On Sunday 24thMarch,His GraceMons Arturo Gonzalez, Bishop of the diocese of Santa Clara(Cuba), administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to a group of youths and adults. During the last three years, members of the SDC accompanied most of these youths and adults as they preparedto receive this sacrament.

Between Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th March, the SDC organized Lenten talks for Aspirants of the Delegation of Malta and Gozo at Dar il-Ħanin Samaritan Conference Centre. Scott Boyle the assistant director of Notre Dame Vision and coordinator of the Notre Dame Catechist Academy, at the McGrath Institute for Church Life in University of Notre Dame, Indiana USA was lead the talks. The main theme of the reflections shared by Mr Boyle was ‘Called to Sainthood’.

Visit by Missionaries of Charity Brothers(Malta)

Br Gennaro and Br Marc, two Brothers of the Missionaries of Charity, addressed SDC Aspirants onSaturday16thFebruary and SDC Candidates on 23rdFebruary respectively. They shared their experiences on the work and apostolate they carry out with homeless people in Paris and Manchester. They stressed the importance of the Christian vocation namely dedicating one’s life for others by seeing Christ “in the disguise of the poor.”
